Students will learn basic circuit training and be able to recognize and practice safe training methods.  They will also be introduced to the components of fitness and basic lifting techniques.  Students will also be given the opportunity to choose whether they want to practice various types of aerobics, yoga, pilates or Generation Fit instead of strength training.

Students will learn the following skills:  the underhand and overhead serve, the set and bump pass, and various defensive and offensive skills in the game of volleyball.  They will also learn the rules of the game and the importance of teamwork and an acceptance of individual differences.

In this unit students will be introduced to the life-time activity of cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  They will be able to be demonstrate proper techniques  and the use and care of equipment.

In this unit students will be introduced to the skills and rules of Badminton and Ping Pong.  Tournament game play will conclude this unit.

In this unit students will be introduced to the skills of dribbling, forehand, backhand, passing, shooting on goal and goal tending.  Following the rules and safe play are a priority in this unit.  Students are encouraged to purchase a mouth piece for this activity.  Gloves and goggles will be provided for all students as well as helmets for the goalies.

In this unit students will be introduced to the sport of archery using a recurve bow.    This will include learning the parts of the bow, safety and proper technique for shooting.

Students are given the opportunity to participate in the lilfe-long sport of bowling at Ken's Family Bowling Center.  The fee for this activity is $2.00 and will be held before April break.

During this unit we will be introducing students to the game of disc golf and practicing the skill of driving a golf ball with proper progression of swing.  The culminating activity will be a trip to the driving range in Norridgewock.   The cost for this activity is $3.00 per student.

This unit will introduce students to STX Lacrosse.  This is a non-contact version of the game.  Students will learn stick work, passing, catching and goal tending.  Students are encourages to obtain a mouth piece when participating in this unit.

In this unit students will get the opportunitiy to participate in a variety of track events.  The use of  pedometers and a walking program will be included as part of this activity.

In this unit the students will get a brief skill review and we will begin game play which will be geared toward recreational play.

During this unit we well be introducing you  to various ways to train by using the track and cross-country course.  You will also be introduced to the fitness pyramid and will be able to calculate your pulse and adjust your workout according to your specific goals.  See attached sheets for homework.

This unit allows students a chance to learn a skill by providing a lot of repetition with the ball as well as encouraging them to understand the advantage of using their skills within game rules and strategies.

In this unit students will be introduced to throwing skills which include the backhand, forehand, thumber, wrist flick, and underarm throws.  Students will also be introduced to catching skills such as the pancake and the one handed catch.  After skill practice the rules will be introduced and the game of Ultimate Frisbee will begin.

Students will be introduced to the skills and rules in the game of basketball.  Shooting games and modified game play will be the focus.

Students will be introduced to dance moves and terminology that enables them to participate in an aerobic dance class.   The components of an aerobic dance class will be learned as well as the importance of music and rhythm while staying on the beat.
