If I could change the school I attend now, I would make one big change. The school would help the kids get ready for their future and offer classes that would get them on the track for their career. There would not be requirements of certain classes, just classes that would be helpful for them in the future. If kids didn't wish to go to college and wanted to spend the rest of their life with a spatchala in their hand flipping burgers then they would have the normal requirement for classes and need to meet the standard amount of credits needed to graduate.

If I could change anything about our school there is so much that I would change. I would change the school lunches, grading systems, homework loads, they times we go to school and get out. I think that we should start school a little earlier so that we can get out of school sooner. I think that it would be easier if we got out of school later because people would be able to do more in the afternoon before it got too late or too dark. We also get too much homework so I think that if we go to school for so many hours a day, we shouldn't get
2-3 hours worth of homework. I also think that we should have longer lunches.. like maybe an hour, therefore we could actually have time to eat.

i think school should start at 8 and get out at 2. and we should alson have better school lunches like subway or bugerking and have atleast a half hour insted of 20 min i barley have time to eat after i stand in line forever to get the lunch.. so for me the perfect school would start at 8 end at 2 better and longer lunches and no blue slip crap..if we miss school it should be our chose to get the work and make it up or take the zeros and deal with the grades

I would make us go to school for an extra hour each day so we would be able to have a three days weekend every weekend. I would make sure there are limits on the amount of homework passed out at night and more of the learning would and should be happening at school. I can see how teachers want us to practice what we have learned at home, but some teachers go overboard giving hours of homework eachnight.

I would make comming here madantory. If you missed for more than two days in a row, and you didn't have a note from your doctor, or you were not out of town, you should have to serve a week of in school suspension. No suspensions should be out of school. That is just rewarding the student for his or her bad behavior. We would have ten minutes to get to each class to do things such as getting a drink, going to the bathroom, buying a snack, talking with a teacher, etc. There would be more sports and clubs offered, and doing some sort of an activity or sport would be required in order to help try and keep kids out of trouble. Every class you take would be worth one full credit. Every class would be one hour, lunch would be a half hour, plus fourty minutes for in beteween class time. So all in all, school would be five hours and ten minutes. There would be no homework, and if we were to have any at all, it would be minimal.

My idea of a high school utopia is a school where teachers give kids more projects to do and less book work. The kids would have more fun, plus they may actually learn more than with the bookwork.

If I could make a change from the way high school is to the way I think it should be I would start out with homework. I think that some teachers are giving students way too much homework. I personally have on average approximately two hours of homework every school night. I believe that the amount of homework that students get each night should be reduced down to 30 minutes a night. I think that by reducing the amount of homework that students get a night will motivate students to strive harder in school.

I agree with Brad they sometimes give us way to much homework and we have to get up early study for test I know alout of people that stays up until 12:00 at night for there homework and thats crazy. And thats because that we have other things to do around the house for are parents and animals to take care of my friend takes care of horses and she has to have a good watch on them you can peratize time but I dont think no student should stay up that late for homework.

I think.... lunches should be at least 25-30 minutes, or have one 10 minute break somewhere in the day.

Obviously if people have time to complain about their homework then they dont do their homework or dont have enough of it to dso.
I dont know about most people but for me i know and accept that there are things in our life that we are going to have to do that we dont want to do. For exampl, homework. little do people know but homework is something teachers give you to get a better understanding of what they are talking about and you need to do your homework to graduate. homework is like nike, just do it!

I feel that students, such as I, are under a lot of stress this year. They weren't kidding when they said your Junior year is the hardest. Most of us have jobs, and sports, and family commitments. Studley Dudley, I agree students should do their homework, but not everyone can handle the stress easily. It's hard. Take me for example, I have to baby-sit my little and clean the house every night. I then have studying and homework to do also. I have to go work at my part time job. I have singing and voice lessons, and also have to practice drums three times a week for three hours. I am not the only one with a lot on my plate. A lot of other students do too. And, just because you can get it done, doesn't mean that everyone can. We all have responsibilities and some handle it better than others. You're just lucky enough to be one of them.
School Utopia would be an hour lunch. Each class only lasted an hour. We could talk in classes. We would be respected by all teachers, and have ten minute breaks in between each class. This would be perfect, and less stressful to all students.

In response to almot everything that has been said already, I feel as though you can complain as much as you want about going to school, the amount of time we spend here, and the "endless" amounts of homework you may receive. At the end of the day school is your number one priority growing up. Yes, extra curricular activities are very essential in the growing process, but learning to manage your time and deal with the stress is as well. I see many kids who waste their study hall times away and end up going home to complain more about homework. You're in school so you might as well use that time well, and get as much done as you can. If that's the case I can't see how any student would have more then two or three hours of studying to do at the most. We end up complaining now, but just wait until you enter the real world and for most of us that will involve having a 8 to 5 job which makes for a much longer day then we go through now. All I'm trying to say is that all of this that we go through now isn't going to do anything, but pay off in the long run. The earlier you learn to manage time, be responsible for your work, and put forth the effort you will see the transition into college and the real world will go much more smoothly. I don't disagree with school not being one ounce of fun right now, but you just have to think it always could be a whole lot worse.

I thought of something else... I also think that there should be foods like fruits, vegetables, crackers and juice on sale after school for the athletes who stay after school because that I know I sometimes get hungry during that time between lunch and dinner. (And it would be healthy too!! :-)

I beleive they should change the times. seriously i get up at 5 and get picked up at six, How is that healthy wich this school wants us to be haelthy. I'd also change the homework. It seems every teacher beleives you should put there work first and loads you because they beleive that the class they teach is most important. So you end up with a giazzillion amount of homework. I also beleive they should have a social hour just so you can hang with your buds, and we should be able to make up the menus that we! have to eat(I'm kinda hungry right now).

If I could change 1 thing I would change that lunch from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. Also, Instead of classes being 80 minutes long, I would change it to 60 minutes long. Also, I would change instead of 5 minutes in between classes, I would make it 15 minutes long so we have enough time to go to our lockers.

i think that high school should be like no required classes u should be able to choose all your class and there only should be one one class per day of the week ,and that class should reflect on what you want to do in your future not some algebra that we are not going to use in our future jobs

If I could change something about my high school it would be to have more class time. we should have at least one more 80 minute class every day. if a student skips a class or skips school they should be kicked outta school for the rest of the year unless they have a note from there parents saying that they were sick or they must have a doctors note. if a student cares about there life and there future they will do there best in school so that they can have a great future and do good in there life.
We should have more options for classes so that students will want to go to school and do good at what they are doing. If someone is doing something that they really don't like than they prob. wont do a good job.
We should have more gym class so that more student will have to "do something". There is way to many over weight kids all around the world, and some of the reason for that is that they do not get up to do anyting because they are not made to.
we should have homework every night.

i would let students listen to music wen they have nothing to do or when they need to study because it helps me personally study. i would add 1 more vacation in October for Halloween. i would also require that teachers give no more than 3 peices of homework to each class!

Even though it would probably take a lot of time to organize, I think that we should have little campaign speeches for those who want to be class president. Like only a few minute speech, or whatever, so we know their ideas and why they would make a good class president, and why.
